NJT Morrisville S&I - photo 30 of 50
Typical derail arrangement, this one at the east end. The gray box contains the motorized derail mechanism. The hump-shaped black box at the top of the photo is the switch circuit controller, which provides position feedback to the interlock system, i.e., derail position (mechanically, advanced or retracted) gets converted into electrical signals. The square black box at the bottom is the underground path for electrical wiring back into the facility. Warning! When you order 1000 ft. of wire, make sure you specify (qty. 4) 250 ft. spools are not acceptable!
