Pfaudler Trackmobile
Title:  Pfaudler Trackmobile
Description:  A Whiting Trackmobile (LNG powered, hydraulic operation) pulls a Pennsy gon and a flat out of Pfaudler. The door would have been at the front left of the plant as it stands today. Photo 1966

NYC & B&LE F units on a westbound, just across the road from the Pfaudler "yard".
Title:  NYC & B&LE F units on a westbound, just across the road from the Pfaudler "yard".
Description:  Same roll of film, so same approximate date - sometime in 1966. Apparently, B&LE traffic was somewhat seasonal, affording them the opportunity to lease out power, in this case an EMD B-unit tucked in behind the NYC F7A.

NYC DICCS map 1965 - Zone "K"
Title:  NYC DICCS map 1965 - Zone "K"
Description:  We’ll start with this DICCS map from 1965. Service to Pfaudler was most visible at the front of the plant on West Ave. (the K-52-1 location). I’m not sure what the track agreements were at any given time, but both the NYC and the B&O (Chessie) served this spur. The back of the plant was mostly inaccessible to the public. I’m not sure what railroad(s) served the various leads (NYC, B&O, PRR?) back there – I never saw anything and obviously never got a photograph. Nothing remains today except weeds and a couple of tracks buried in the pavement behind the plant (visible with any bird's eye map view).

NYC 9637 (print scan) - for a while, Kodak labeled prints with dates
Title:  NYC 9637 (print scan) - for a while, Kodak labeled prints with dates
Description:  In this November 1967 photo, the crew is headed east with three cars after switching Pfaudler, sporting a fancy S-2 with Jerry Blunt trucks and a nice paint job. Location is on West Ave. right in front of the GRS main entrance. Per DRBrown, "that yard job with the 9637 would be YT-1. They were on duty roughly 0700, train was usually made up on track 04. They took cars for the B&O, the PRR, and firms such as GRS and Pfaudler. Conductor was Lloyd Swartz, one brakeman was O.R. Brown, and I'll be darned if I can place a name to the guy in the photo. Caboose assigned to the job at that time was 18897, a rather odd-looking series which NYC acquired with the T&OC. Unlike most jobs, YT-1 left Goodman Street with the caboose on the head pin."

View from the B&O belt line bridge looking to the southwest toward Pfaudler
Title:  View from the B&O belt line bridge looking to the southwest toward Pfaudler
Description:  This photograph is largely unremarkable – two PC freights on the mains, one powered with a GP40/GP30 combo. The track on the right is a leftover from the old four track main, now downgraded for mostly local use. The spur at the extreme bottom right is the lead to Robinson Clay Products. Of more interest is the group of four tracks curving away at the upper left – that’s the interchange with the PRR. It is difficult to make out, but the Pfaudler K-52-1 track is to the right of the Pennsy interchange along the pavement at the left of the small building. This photo is from 1974 or so.

PC 9563
Title:  PC 9563
Description:  PC 9563 is sitting on the former PRR interchange trackage at the end of West Ave. Pfaudler is to the right and behind the train. The K-52-2 and K-52-3 tracks would have been to the immediate left in the photo. They've been pulled and the property is now (or was) a '70s version of a recycling facility. January 1976 photo.

B&O 3809 & C2475 at Pfaudler
Title:  B&O 3809 & C2475 at Pfaudler
Description:  B&O 3809 & C2475 shove a flat car across West Ave. for Pfaudler. The tracks in the foreground comprise the PRR interchange. January 1976 photo.

Title:  B&O 3809 & C2475 at Pfaudler
Description:  B&O 3809 & C2475 shove a flat car across West Ave. for Pfaudler. Compare the "garage door" rail access with the 1966 Whiting trackmobile view. January 1976 photo.

B&O 3809 & C2475 at Pfaudler
Title:  B&O 3809 & C2475 at Pfaudler
Description:  B&O 3809 & C2475 head back to the barn after dropping off a flat car for Pfaudler. Look at all those wires on the PC (NYC) behind them! January 1976 photo.

AMTK 439
Title:  AMTK 439
Description:  This eastward view is from the B&O bridge over the NYC at the end of West Ave. at Milepost 374. The two tracks on the right lead to Pfaudler and the PRR interchange, but one has been cleverly pulled since tracks K-52-2 and K-52-3 are no longer in service. The RG&E plant on the left, the two bridges in the background, and the tracks to Pfaudler/PRR are all gone today. The old General Railway Signal complex is to the extreme right. Even the milepost has been replaced since this May 1976 photo.

Today's Bing view of the rear of the plant
Title:  Today's Bing view of the rear of the plant
Description:  Leftover tracks in the pavement. They were served off the PRR trackage. In this view, north is to the right, the canal is up top, and the PRR is at the bottom (the latter two out of sight).
