RS3s on the 1st Belt - summer of 1970 - 3 of 3 |
Description: |
Date approximate. The switch has been flipped and now we're backing into Kodak. Note the advertising on the billboards: Lark's Gas-Trap Filter is being promoted as an Anti-Pollution Device, while Ford is pushing Pintos. Either one could've killed ya in the 70's !!! |

PC 5312 & NYC 5322 at the Charlotte station |
Description: |
Winter 1970 +/- a year. The fuel truck is there for 5312 and 5322 appears to have a brake issue. Notice the swing bridge in the background. |

RS3s on the 1st Belt - summer of 1970 - 1 of 3 |
Description: |
Date approximate. First Belt is pulling across Ridge Road in this summer shot. The B&O is over on the right. Notice the autos patiently waiting at the B&O lights (no crossing arms until the massive Ridge Rd. rebuilding years later...). The RS3s are relatively new on 1st Belt assignments (for some of us anyway) and have started to push out the older RS1s in local service. Later, they too would be supplanted, then by first generation EMDs. |
