Those were the days!! Now, GE Railcar does freight car repair there, and most of the yard has been taken up. The shop, where LV once built steam locomotives, came down probably 30 years ago. The LV main was largely abandoned from Van Etten Jct west, the only serious traffic being on the old passenger main through Ithaca to the NYSEG Milliken Station, and Cargill, which has a salt mine just up the lake from NYSEG. Of all the power in this shot, the U23 probably lasted the longest. CR ran U23B's into the early 90's, adding LV's dozen to PC's 87 for a total of 99 of them. The rest of the power in this shot was gone off the CR roster by the mid 80's.
